The tiger nut - also known as chufa or tiger nut - owes its name to its fine, nutty flavour, which is reminiscent of almonds or hazelnuts. However, it is not a nut, as tigernuts are the acorn-sized, high-fibre and tasty root tubers of a cyper grass. The gentle roasting process gives the tigernut flour a delicately aromatic roasted flavour and it can be used in a variety of ways.

Usage
Enjoy in muesli, porridge, desserts, bars, shakes, smoothies and for baking - tiger nut flour can be used in many ways. It is also ideal as part of an alkaline diet. When baking, 100% of the regular nuts and up to 25% of the cereal flours can be replaced by tigernut flour. Due to their sweet taste, the sugar content can be reduced or even left out. Also ideal for preparing delicious horchata (a tiger nut milk, a popular Spanish drink), baking bread and much more. If the flour is used raw, e.g. in shakes, milk etc., please store the drink in the refrigerator for soaking and storage.
